Human Rights
From algorithmic bias to representational harms to questions of unequal access to necessary resources to its use in mass surveillance, AI has had major impacts on the real-world provision of universal human rights worldwide. The use of AI to promote human rights is no less important, and AI tools are frequently promoted as capable of solving or alleviating various human rights challenges. At the AI Policy Lab, our research is particularly focused on the policy impacts of these dynamics, and how better AI policy can be used to further the goal of universal human rights
